Huge congratulations on your engagement!
You're possibly feeling a bit 'rabbit in the headlights' with all the plans you have to make and maybe don't know where to start looking for flowers so to help a little and to make sure we are the right fit for each other, I ask you to consider the following:
How do you want to feel on the day?
How do you want your flowers to make you feel? Maybe like your favourite painting or book, a beautiful piece of fabric or wood?
The vaguer the answer the better really, I prefer comments like 'I just love the colour of this shawl, I don't know why, the colours just sing to me' and 'our favourite painting is x , it lifts my soul and that's how I want to feel on my wedding day" rather than 'I like this picture of a bouquet, please can you recreate it'.
You love nature (and flowers of course!), your surroundings and the seasons and you would love these to be incorporated into the design of your flowers. You want something utterly beautiful and individual for this celebration of the start of your new life together and the flowers to feel like they have just grown there and have been there for years
You are happy to allow me to take charge of the small details to get the absolute most from your flowers.
If you already have very fixed ideas of exactly how you want your bouquets to look, what precise design to have on the tables, or what colour everything should be matched exactly to, then maybe I am not the florist for you and I could recommend someone more closely suited to your way of working. There are LOTS of florists out there and don't worry, you will find 'the one'! I won't be right for everyone and that is absolutely fine, better that we find out now rather than after we have both committed time to meeting up.
BUT, if you just love my style and that’s about as far as you have got, if you are happy to remain open minded and for me to make suggestions that maybe you haven’t considered and it won't send your head into a spin, then providing I am free for your date we should meet up for an initial chat and start to work together on designing the most beautiful day ever!
About how I work
I achieve the look and style of my designs by taking inspiration from the local surroundings, maybe the church, or the venue, it can be from the most innocuous of items, maybe a tree growing in the churchyard, or the hedges around the venue, or the little wood shed you always loved as a child? This way I can design your flowers around you and what is important to you.
I work in a very natural, unstructured and often asymmetric style, using foraged foliages (with permission!) and British flowers where ever possible and because it is seasonal, it reflects what is actually happening outside at the time. I also tend to work big, very big! See Archives for some of my previous weddings.
The flowers for your wedding day won’t be a recreation of somebody else’s designs. The colours will incorporate little splashes of colour that maybe you hadn’t considered, a dash of mustard to pick out the middle of the peony in your bouquet, or the deep red stem of ‘ninebark' echoed in the gorgeous scabious flower floating high above the others.
It is these small details that help to make my designs different and specific to you and only you.
We would have our initial meeting at my workshop and consultation area near Ripponden in West Yorkshire, UK. Here you can see all the vessels you could have on the tables, the silk ribbons you could have on your bouquet as well as my gardens and the incredible scenery we have! (You can also meet the three dogs if you want to)
I can source the most beautiful and individual items if I don't have what we decide between us is the best for YOU.
I grow flowers for use in my weddings, which is just delightful to do, I also call on the many local growers and flower farms as I use British grown flowers and foliage as much as possible, only getting flowers from further afield if they are not available here. It is ALWAYS seasonal though!
To guarantee a cohesive look, I do insist that I am the only provider of florals/foliages on the day.
