About Us

Wedding and Event Floristry, Flowers for Business
Yorkshire, Cheshire and Lancashire

p1010062Firenza Floral Design is a young and dynamic floral design business offering trend setting and beautiful floral designs across Yorkshire, Cheshire and Lancashire (and further afield if required!).

Fiona Pickles owns and runs the business, which was created in 2005, having left a previously successful career in the Print Industry in Leeds and Manchester.  Fiona initially worked with a wedding florist and then trained in London.  She came back to Yorkshire in 2005 and set the business up, with no customers and no shop no-one even knew Firenza Floral Design even existed.   Fiona’s reputation gradually grew and her work now speaks for itself - Firenza Floral Design is now one of the most highly regarded wedding and event florists across the north of England. Fiona has a team that work with her on the large projects that the business now attracts.

Fiona won a Wedding Industry Award in 2008, beating off stiff competition from florists across Yorkshire, Cheshire and Lancashire. Fiona also demonstrated at the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show in 2009

Firenza Floral Design is a member of the Flowers and Plants Association – a trade association which provides an unbiased, non-commercial source of expert advice to it’s members and their customers.

The name Firenza Floral Design came about because Fiona was keen to use a name that meant something personal and her grandmother’s name was Florence (Firenza is a form of the Italian for Florence).  Amazingly, Fiona found out after she had chosen it, the meaning of the name “Florence” is “flowering” or “blossoming”, so it was even more appropriate than she realised!

dadFlowers obviously run in the family – this is a picture of Fiona’s dad, who sadly passed away when Fiona was just 17, pictured (in a very fetching outfit!) clutching a beautiful bunch of flowers - just a little tribute to him x

oscarA less well-known member of the team is Oscar our Quality Controller.  He is  a rescue dog who is very keen to play with (sorry test) ribbons (preferably pink) and anything sparkly – seen here discarding a silk rose!
